orship at St. Philip's

Sunday

 8:30 a.m.   Rite I  (said)
A quiet service in traditional language, with sermon, without hymns. In our tradition, this service is known as "Low Mass," in that it uses no music and it offers less ceremony than the 10:30 a.m. service. For fans of Elizabethan English, you'll hear a plethora of thee's and thou's not to mention phrases like, "rendering unto thee most hearty thanks for the innumerable benefits procured unto us by the same."  We've got something for everybody!

10:30 a.m.  Rite II  (sung)
This is our principal service, a Rite II sung Eucharist with sermon, hymns and choir. Our hope is that you deepen your encounter in the mystery of Christ as we express our rich liturgical heritage. Portions of the liturgy are sung between priest and people and ceremonial accompaniments such as incense may be used to emphasize the importance of the day.
During the program year, Sunday School and Nursery care are provided by our experienced Christian Education team.  A very welcoming coffee hour is held in the parish hall following the service.

Our Doors Are Open

Looking to get away from it all and find a place where you can be still and know that God is present?
St. Philip's is a house of prayer for all people.  Many individuals make use of our sacred space throughout the week for private prayer and devotions.  The front doors of the church are open Monday through Friday.  The parish secretary sees that the church is always open during her office hours: from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., but typically you will find that the doors are open from 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 pm.  While you are in the church during the week, you may hear the organist rehearsing, see the altar guild polishing brass, or the priest preparing for a mid-week service.  All of these things are part of the normal rhythm of parish life.  We will not find you to be an intrusion! Please make yourself at home, you are our honored guest.
